Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust Successfully Launches New Electronic Patient Record to Enhance Integrated Care

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) has reached a major milestone in its digital transformation strategy with the successful go-live of the SystmOne Mental Health Electronic Patient Record (EPR).

This transition provides a modern, highly configurable platform that supports the delivery of integrated, high-quality care across mental health, learning disability, and community services.

The implementation has seen the new EPR deployed across approximately 50 sites throughout Coventry, Warwickshire, and Solihull. This advanced system is now used by clinical and administrative staff to manage care for a regional population of around 1 million people, supporting more than 5,000 patient contacts every day.

The go-live has been part of a coordinated effort to ensure patients receive “more personalised, timely and coordinated care” by providing staff with instant access to accurate, up-to-date information. Benefits include:

  • Integrated Care: The system eliminates the fragmentation of records across different departments, bringing physical and mental health services under one digital roof.
  • Enhanced Safety: Healthcare professionals have quicker access to comprehensive patient data, including NHS Spine connectivity for national shared summaries, supporting faster and more informed clinical decisions.
  • Operational Efficiency: The platform is designed to reduce delays and minimise duplication, allowing staff to focus more of their time on direct patient care.
  • User-Centred Design: The modern and intuitive interface is configured to meet the specific needs of the Trust’s diverse specialist services.

Julie Frake-Harris, Chief Operating Officer at CWPT, said: This is a major step in our digital transformation journey as a Trust.  The new system will reduce delays, minimise duplication and create a smoother experience for patients. The introduction of the new EPR will help the Trust deliver high-quality, responsive care across mental health, learning disabilities, community and specialist services in our area, while supporting future innovation.

I want to say a huge thank you to our staff and patients during this transition period – things might have taken a little longer as staff get used to the new system and we make sure it is configured correctly, but colleagues have come together to support each other, and everyone is aware of the long terms gains SystmOne will bring.”

Peter Newton, Director of Digital and Informatic Services at CWPT, said: “It was vital for our Trust to move to a single, optimised electronic patient record to enhance the experience for both our patients and our staff. By implementing this integrated system across our 50 sites, we are ensuring seamless communication between our services. This allows our clinical teams to work more cohesively, reducing administrative delays and ensuring that every one of our 5,000 daily patient contacts is informed by the most accurate, up-to-date information. Ultimately, this digital transformation is about providing safer, more personalised care for the one million people we serve across the region.”

Kira Robinson, Account Manager at TPP, said: “We are delighted to see Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust go live with SystmOne. The Trust’s commitment and hard work have been instrumental in the success of this deployment. This go live allows the Trust to immediately utilise a comprehensive, fully integrated platform to support staff in delivering informed, person-centred care across the region.”
