About us

Transforming the delivery of healthcare

TPP is a leading provider of healthcare technology, dedicated to delivering world-class healthcare software across the globe. We work alongside governments to improve health outcomes, tackle inequalities in care, reduce health service costs, and improve experiences for both patients and clinicians.

Our philosophy is to join up healthcare based on a shared electronic health record, improving access to clinical data and empowering patients to take part in their own care. Our core product, SystmOne, makes this possible.

Our Story

TPP was founded in 1997 by Frank Hester OBE, in an effort to improve efficiency and standards in the UK healthcare system. Frank had worked in the financial sector as a software architect for several years before starting the company. He wanted to remove the administrative burden from his wife, a family doctor, so that she could focus on delivering care for her patients. That principle remains central to TPP’s mission: to make life easier for the people that care for us when we need them. Our pioneering SystmOne programme initially linked one GP practice in Bradford to a local hospital, increasing integrated care between organisations and making life easier for patients and clinicians alike.

Since then, the company has grown and SystmOne is now used extensively across the UK and abroad, providing vital clinical IT services in over 25 different care settings, including more than 2,600 GP practices and a third of acute mental health trusts. Outside of the UK, we have deployments in China, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.

How We Work

We meet with and talk to our customers directly, with no middle man in the way, to ensure that we are continuously delivering solutions to the problems they’re actually facing. We remain fast and agile by minimising bureaucracy and management hierarchy and fostering a culture of identifying problems and creating solutions. Our developers understand the importance of technology to the healthcare industry and are on hand day and night to resolve any problems that come up. We don’t have shareholders, so we’re not controlled by profit, which means we can go the extra mile to make sure that what we’re doing is right for our customers. Our philosophy has given TPP many world-firsts, from inventing the technology underpinning shared care, to data-driven AI for early cancer diagnosis.

At TPP, we employ the brightest and best people. Our coders and analysts are hired from the world’s best universities, with degrees in mathematics, physics, engineering, and computer science. All of our staff have that rare quality of dedication and passion for the company’s mission.

Our Aims

Ensure Security and Safety

TPP operates a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. We provide the highest standards of security and confidentiality, whilst ensuring healthcare professionals always have access to the very best technology. Our low infrastructure requirements remove many of the common barriers to implementing digital health programmes.

Improve Outcomes

We believe that reliable and comprehensive digital health infrastructure forms a key component of healthcare transformation. Whether chronic condition management, patient safety or disease surveillance, our clinician and patient-facing products cover every aspect of healthcare delivery. This technology puts people at the very centre of their care.

Build a Digital Health Economy

Our open approach provides opportunities to drive the digital health economy. A vibrant digital landscape provides the foundation for innovative start-up companies working in health technology. It supports national-scale projects and forms a bridge between industries, for example, facilitating pharmaceutical companies to conduct clinical trials.
