Delivering Care at Scale: Building a Cross-PCN Men’s Health Service with SystmOne Shared Administration
Hinckley & Bosworth Medical Alliance is using SystmOne’s unique Shared Administration functionality to deliver a single Men’s Health service across 12 GP practices, three PCNs and around 122,000 patients. It allows the team to work across practice boundaries and manage the service centrally – making joined-up care at scale possible without separate systems or bolt-ons.
“This service simply would not exist without SystmOne’s functionality. Shared Administration is the backbone of the service – without it, a cross-PCN model would not be feasible.”
Cameron Peach, Hinckley and Boswell medical Alliance
Since June 2025, more than 800 Men’s Health GP appointments have been facilitated through SystmOne, with the same integrated model now being used for a Women’s Health Hub.

At a glance
- 12 GP practices across three PCNs and around 122,000 patients
- One cross-PCN service, managed centrally through Shared Administration
- Integrated Appointment Invitations for direct patient self-booking
- Reduced administration and fewer inappropriate bookings
- Significant patient satisfaction benefits
Breaking down barriers
Analysis of Enhanced Access activity showed men were attending 44% fewer GP and ANP appointments than women. Embarrassment, time pressures and discomfort discussing symptoms with reception staff can cause men to delay seeking help. As a result, conditions can worsen, mental health can deteriorate and important symptoms can go unreported.
Having seen these barriers first-hand, the team wanted to make that first step easier. Their aim was to increase men’s access to primary care through a discreet, convenient and male-friendly pathway – and make it available consistently across the Alliance.
One service across the Alliance – made possible by SystmOne
Delivering one service across multiple practices and PCNs could easily mean separate systems, duplicated processes and additional administration. SystmOne Shared Administration provides the backbone that brings it together.
Practices operate within a Shared Admin Group, allowing the team to:
- Instantly retrieve patient records from participating practices
- Verify patients without re-registering them
- Manage the service centrally and safely
- Maintain seamless integration across participating practices
The patient-facing pathway is integrated too. Using SystmOne Appointment Invitations, the team can send a secure SMS booking link, link each invitation directly to the correct Men’s Health GP slot type and enable discreet self-booking without patients having to speak to reception. Accurate slot mapping also reduces administration and eliminates mis-bookings.
Together, these features have enabled the Alliance to create a fully integrated, automated and discreet pathway without external software, while maintaining full clinical integration and data security.
Turning SystmOne functionality into better access
“Having an appointment I could book in advance outside of my working hours meant I can actually get to the doctors.”
Patient
The Alliance used SystmOne to turn its service model into a simple, joined-up patient journey. Patients complete a short online request form before receiving the appropriate SystmOne Appointment Invitation, connecting them directly to the right Men’s Health clinic.
Every appointment is with a male GP with a special interest in men’s health, available during evenings and weekends at familiar local surgeries. Combined with discreet self-booking, the pathway is designed to reduce anxiety and embarrassment, protect patient dignity and build confidence in seeking help.
The most common reasons for booking are:
- Mental health concerns
- Prostate and urinary symptoms
- General health worries
These are exactly the areas where men typically delay seeking help. By making it easier to access the right appointment through SystmOne, the service is reaching a traditionally hard-to-reach population and supporting earlier intervention.
The benefits are both operational and patient-focused: increased male engagement, reduced administrative workload, fewer inappropriate bookings and a smoother, more confidential patient experience.
Patient feedback reinforces the impact: 99% found booking easy and discreet, 98% said evening and weekend appointments suited their schedule, 97% felt comfortable and at ease, 96% felt listened to and taken seriously, 91% left informed and clear about next steps, and 74% said it was helpful to see a male clinician.
One platform, more services

Following the success of Men’s Health, the Alliance has used the same SystmOne functionality to launch a Women’s Health Hub.
Appointment Invitations allow women to book directly into tailored clinics for specific health concerns, using convenient, private booking and accurate slot-type mapping to ensure they reach the right clinician for their needs.
The service may change, but the infrastructure does not need to be rebuilt. By reusing the same integrated functionality to expand personalised care across its PCNs, the Alliance is demonstrating how SystmOne provides a scalable, future-ready foundation for new models of care.
